  6. "I want to be less stressed."
  7. "I'm feeling drawn to help out in some way, but it just seems overwhelming to me and I'm already very busy."
  8. "I want more balance in my life between career/family/fun."
  9. "I get stressed by customer calls and fly off the handle."
  10. "My employer keeps asking me to do more and more, but I'm feeling overwhelmed."
People hear about life or business coaching and don't know how it will help them or even if they are candidates for coaching.  Getting started and determining a topic can be stressful.  Recently, a client asked me, "Do you have some kind of list of topics that will give me and idea of what to talk about?"

To help your prepare for a life or business coaching session, take a look a the list below.  Do any of these thoughts go through your mind?

Boredom/Lethargy

Picture
  1. "I need to get off my butt, get productive and stop being lazy."
  2. "I'm bored at my job."
  3. "I'm tired all the time.  I just want to have enough energy to get through my day."
  4. "I want to wake up more excited to start the day."
  5. "I should exercise more."

Confused/Looking for Clarity

  1. "I want to do something different in my career, but I have no idea what."
  2. "I'd love to start my own business if I just knew what it was."
  3. "I wish I could just be happy with how my life is.  I think I have a good life."
  4. "I've done everything I thought I was supposed to do — I got a degree, a great job, got married, and yet I feel empty and unhappy inside. I thought I wanted this.  I sound ungrateful."
  5. "I want to meet new people, but I don't know where to start."
  6. "I don't feel like I'm having enough impact."

Unorganized

  1. "My employees aren't performing to my expectation."
  2. "My colleagues don't know how to problem solve effectively."
  3. "I'm having trouble relating to my co-worker and we are both working on the same project."
  4. "I'm not perceived as a leader."

Communication Breakdown

  1. "I want my finances to be in order."
  2. "I need to get organized, but I keep putting it off."
  3. "I feel like I'm always playing catch up no matter how early I get up in the morning."
  4. "I don't interview well."
There is a common theme running through these topics:  they demonstrate feeling stuck.  This is where a life or business coach steps in.  A coach gets you out of your head space and into your heart (aka action) space.  A perceptive coach starts by closely listening to your topic.  During the coaching process we'll dig deeper into what you are REALLY saying and what story you believe.  The coach calls bullshit on the story (most mind analysis contains a fair amount of bullshit, sorry to tell you).   Coaching helps you to realize your mind is caught up in the STORY that it thinks is TRUTH--but it isn't YOUR truth.  Your mind is trying to speak louder than your heart, your intuition, your inner wisdom, your REAL truth.

If any of the thoughts above go through your mind, please fill out this form to schedule a free 2 hour consultation to see if coaching is a good fit for you.
